The AQ course, Health and Physical Education Primary/Junior Part 2 extends and reinforces the knowledge and skills acquired in Part 1. In this course, you will deepen your knowledge and understanding of effective practices in the Primary/Junior H&PE classroom through collaboration with your colleagues and through relevant opportunities to reflect, communicate and apply your learning.

You will continue to use curriculum documents, current resources related to H&PE, and your knowledge of child development to better understand how to effectively promote a positive and safe learning experience for students that will serve to motivate them to lead healthy active lives. Theory, discussion and application of important issues culminate in the creation of a Professional Learning Portfolio relevant to your own teaching context.

You will complete activities that will:

• allow you to actively collaborate with your peers;
• search relevant journals and websites;
• engage in an inquiry related to H&PE;
• engage in a reflective practice; and
• give you a bank of classroom-ready ideas and resources.

Application Requirements

1) OCT Membership showing completion of Part 1

Signed by a Supervisory Official* from your Board confirming that you have one year (194 days) of teaching experience since becoming a certified teacher.

* The Ontario College of Teachers defines "Supervisory Official" as the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent of the school board for a teacher employed by a Board of Education. A principal or headmaster is not recognized in this capacity. For a teacher employed by a private school, the "supervisory official" is the Ministry of Education official (Education Officer) appointed to your school. For overseas experience the appropriate Supervisory Official is the person your Principal reports to.

**Please note that if you have an existing Part 2, Part 3 (Specialist), or Honour Specialist qualification on your OCT record you are not required to submit a form for a Part 2 course. A new form is always required for Part 3 (Specialist).
