In Teacher Librarian Part 2, it is time to start peeling off the layers to uncover the central purpose of school libraries and teacher librarianship. Professional research, library literature, and foundational documents are examined to build a strong base of pedagogy.

This knowledge is applied to questions of practice to develop your personal philosophy and insight into the library learning commons model. The assignments will continue to offer a range of practical experiences that will help prepare you to successfully navigate the complex job of today’s teacher librarian.

Major assignments include developing a personal Portfolio, exploring new technologies, keeping a reading log, and crafting a library mission statement.

1. B.C. teaching certification
2. Completion of Teacher Librarian Part 1

*Teaching Experience is not required but it is advised that candidates gain some experience before completing the second and specialist courses. There are many opportunities to gain experience through volunteer work and community based programs.
