Responding to challenging behaviour can feel overwhelming and exhausting! This course provides a foundational understanding for educational staff to better support students who struggle with behaviour at school. Grounded in the belief that all behaviour is a form of communication, this course encourages educators to respond to challenging behaviour with curiosity and empathy.
You will explore challenging behaviour through multiple lenses that honour the holistic nature of student development. Using a case study approach, you will examine possible causes of behaviour and apply interventions that are trauma-informed and inclusive. Topics include connections between behaviour and mental health, learning differences, attachment and more. By the end of the course, you will have a deeper understanding of why behaviours occur and how to prevent and respond effectively.
