Take a deep dive into the BC curriculum and the BC early learning framework. This course provokes thinking through its focus on the child's image, inclusive learning environments and the role of play. Understandings include Indigenous content and histories and how to weave social and emotional well-being into the Kindergarten day.
In this course and through an extensive exploration of aspects of the BC early learning framework, you'll establish a firm foundation in the curriculum and develop inclusive practices that support working with children and families. You will have the opportunity to design learning experiences and environments reflecting your pedagogy and the image of the child, families and communities. You will understand how First Peoples principles of learning help guide an early learning practice and why understanding Indigenous histories are essential in working toward truth and reconciliation as an educator. You will also have the opportunity to share ideas and observations with others in ways that will spur further thinking about your practice and work with Kindergarten children and families.
