What pedagogies and strategies are needed to teach in today’s diverse Kindergarten classrooms? How can we meet all students where they are while bringing our authentic selves to co-create the classroom environment? How can we embed Indigenous pedagogies to support the holistic view of the child while exploring the BC curriculum?
This course offers opportunities to use self-reflection to situate ourselves as Kindergarten educators in depth and explore the roles and responsibilities of this position. You’ll dig deeper into the universal design for learning (UDL) framework, investigate Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing, and examine the importance of collecting documentation and evidence for assessing, planning and reporting. You’ll conclude the course by creating cross-curricular activities that can be used to support accessible and inclusive learning environments.

1) Courses and Post-Graduate Certificates are approved by TQS for Category Upgrade. If you would like these courses to be used towards Category Upgrading, you must have a valid BC Teacher Certificate.
ECEs, EAs, and other education professionals are welcome to take the courses without Certification.
2) Completion of Kindergarten Part 1
*Teaching Experience is not required but it is advised that candidates gain some experience before completing the second and specialist courses. There are many opportunities to gain experience through volunteer work and community based programs.
