Have you ever wondered how to make numeracy more visual, creative and engaging? If so, Visual Arts to Teach Mathematics is the course for you. Content is structured to be flexible and applicable to K–12 grade levels. Candidates do not require specific art or math experience to explore creativity with a mathematical lens. The art of math is a vehicle for translating ideas, expression and personalized learning.
This unique course will introduce educators to strategies for blending Visual Arts and Mathematics in Elementary and Secondary classes. The course explores a variety of resources and learning approaches to teaching a blend of these two subjects. Personalized learning and assessment and evaluation strategies will also be discussed and examined.
Educators will investigate and build cross-curricular opportunities to spark student curiosity and creativity. Candidates will explore global core competencies and the cross-curricular and interdisciplinary integration of Mathematics with Visual Arts. The course will consider strategies to support student well-being and learning needs, through hands-on activities and technology-integrated tasks.
To consolidate learning, course participants will design a project that combines Visual Arts and Mathematics to enhance the student learning experience, including a plan for personal growth and development.
