How do students learn online? How is learning in an online medium different from a classroom?

Perhaps you've had students search for information online. Perhaps you have used the Ontario Educational Resource Bank or even the Provincial Learning Management System. Teaching and Learning Through E-Learning will introduce you to the evolving medium of e-Learning. The goal of this course is to provide you with a foundation to support effective student learning in online environments. You'll also have a chance to be part of a learning community, sharing your thoughts and ideas with your colleagues.

Our aim is that Teaching and Learning Through E-Learning will play a significant part of your professional learning related to online environments.

What You'll Learn and Do

In this course you will learn about:

• theoretical foundations of e-Learning
• program planning, development and implementation
• pedagogical principles
• learners and community
• assessment and evaluation
• shared support for learners

You'll complete activities that will:

• let you explore various ways of communicating and learning online
• examine support for effective learning in online environments
• provide opportunities to share ideas with colleagues
• allow you to apply your knowledge to real eLearning situations
• provide a roadmap for your own professional learning with respect to online learning
