Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) provides needs-based financial assistance to Ontario students to help cover education-related costs such as tuition, books, and fees. Continuing Teacher Education courses qualify as OSAP-eligible microcredentials. Please visit the OSAP website to learn more.
How to apply for and use OSAP to pay for your course
- Apply for the course of your choice through our website. To view available courses and upcoming start dates, visit our Courses page.
-
Before applying, ensure you have enough time to complete the course application, apply for OSAP funding, and submit payment.
- We recommend choosing a course that starts at least one month after your application date.
- If you are using OSAP to pay for your course, you may only take one course at a time, with no overlapping course dates.
- After applying for your course, log in to your OSAP account and apply for microcredential funding.
- Once your OSAP application has been approved in principle (pending enrolment confirmation), send a screenshot of the approval confirmation to cedmail@queensu.ca. Upon receiving this documentation, we will manually enrol you in the course so that your enrolment can be confirmed with OSAP.
- Once we have confirmed your manual enrolment, contact Financial Aid & Awards at financialaid@queensu.ca. Include your Queen's Student ID, application number, and a screenshot of your OSAP confirmation, and request that they confirm your enrolment directly with OSAP.
- Once your enrolment has been confirmed by the Financial Aid & Awards Office, OSAP will release your funding.
- Please ensure your course fees are paid in full before the start of the second week of your course.
- If your funding is delayed for any reason, please email cedmail@queensu.ca. We can withdraw you from the course before service charges are incurred.
Sponsored Students
If your course fee is being paid by a sponsor, you must apply online and submit a sponsorship letter to both the University Fees Office and Continuing Teacher Education department in lieu of payment.
The letter must include:
- student name
- student number
- course name
- course start and end dates
- fee amount

TAP Waiver
CTE courses are now part of the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), which supports eligible Queen’s University employees by covering tuition costs for approved courses taken on a part-time basis (less than 60 percent course load).
If you are a Queen’s University employee interested in taking one of our courses, please follow the instructions below:
Steps to follow with CTE:
Apply for the course(s) and session(s) of your choice on our website and complete the application process.
Once you’ve received confirmation from HR and submitted the signed waiver (Step 2 and 3 below), email cedmail@queensu.ca to provide proof of your TAP waiver approval from HR so we can manually enroll you in the course. Be sure to send this email before your course begins to avoid missing the start date.
Steps to follow with HR:
Step 1: Submit an Eligibility Inquiry
Email hrodl@queensu.ca with the following information:
- Your full name
- Employee number
- Optional (if already registered): Queen’s student number and term of study
Step 2: Receive Confirmation from Human Resources
HR will review your eligibility and confirm:
- Whether you qualify
- The available dollar amount of coverage based on your employment status
If eligible, HR will either prepare a TAP waiver form for you to sign or let you know when to reach out for the waiver based on your program or course start date.
Step 3: Sign the TAP Waiver
Once your waiver is ready, you will be asked to sign it electronically and return it to hrodl@queensu.ca.
Step 4: Waiver is Applied to Your Student Account
