This course applies innovative 21st-century tools to best support and prepare visual arts educators for leadership roles and their learners for real-world applications. You will engage in a comprehensive examination of approaches to teaching Senior Visual Arts. You will analyze critical discussions about equity, inclusion and diversity, distinguishing between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation. You will examine the role of art in social and environmental justice, developing compelling and relevant themes with which to engage students and give voice to their authentic lived experiences, and creating an inclusive and healthy Senior Visual Arts classroom. You will conduct effective and sensitive critiques and devise productive assessment and evaluation protocols that will help all learners to succeed. 2) YOUR UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPT(S)*
Your transcript(s) must show: The equivalent of 3.0 full-year undergraduate/graduate courses in Visual Arts or the equivalent of 2.0 full-year undergraduate/graduate courses if you already hold another senior qualification. Studio courses in painting, drawing, sculpture, etc. are required. Some Art History courses can be used to support the studio courses.
*If you completed a Queen's undergrad (at any time), or a B.Ed., Honour Specialist, or an Intermediate or Senior ABQ course with us within the last 4 years you are not required to resend your transcripts.
