Post-Graduate Certificates for Ontario Teachers

To support Ontario teachers in their desire to provide enriching and holistic learning opportunities for students, Queen’s Continuing Teacher Education is now offering postgraduate certificates.

These certificates are comprised of five AQ and ABQ courses approved by the Ontario College of Teachers. Certificates are based on specific challenges that Ontario teachers face in the classroom. Our courses are created and instructed by experienced Ontario teachers from across the province. Each course is infused with Ontario Ministry of Education policies, OCT regulations, and current research-driven theory.

The following Ontario post-grad certificates are eligible:

Advanced Standing in the Professional Master of Education Degree Program

Applicants to the Professional Master of Education (PME) degree program qualify for advanced standing in PME 800 (Self-Regulated Learning) and/or PME 811 (Innovation in Teaching and Learning) if they have successfully completed post-graduate certificates through CTE at Queen's.


The following Ontario post-grad certificates are eligible:

  • First Nations, Métis and Inuit Studies
  • Reading and Literacy
  • Special Education
  • Teaching English Language Learners
  • Teaching Mathematics
  • Teacher Leadership
  • Technology in Teaching

To be considered for advanced standing, submit a written request with your application to the PME program.

Candidates completing the Queen’s Professional Master of Education (PME) may be exempted from the elective courses for the above mentioned Post-Grad certificates. You will be required to complete the three core, subject-specific courses of the certificate. If you are completing the PME with Queen’s, please contact the office at cedmail@queensu.ca for more information. You will be required to provide us with your full name, student number, and anticipated end date to be eligible for this exemption.
