Are you supporting English language learners (ELLs) in your learning environment? Do you want to know more about ELLs to improve the instruction and provide support to meet their academic and social requirements?
In British Columbia, ELLs must meet specific language standards. In this certificate, you'll learn ways to work with these standards concurrently with the BC curriculum. You'll examine ELL language pedagogy and acquisition, explore language skill development, consider processes and frameworks, strategies and supports, and review equitable classroom practices. You'll emerge as a teacher leader to support English language development and its integral role in BC schools, where cultural and linguistic diversity continues to grow.
It is recommended that CONT938 be completed first. Part 1, part 2 and Specialist must be taken in order, without overlap.
Suggested elective for this certificate.
